Since 1969, race fans have visited the Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series all compete at the 1-mile facility. Although some fans are satisfied with lodging at nearby hotels or motels, many fans enjoy the camping experience at the track in their recreational vehicles or campers. The Dover International Speedway provides spaces for patrons who choose to camp.
RV Lot Information
The Dover International Speedway consists of six separate camping lots for RVs. Lot 2 is located adjacent to the fourth turn of the track. It costs $130 admission fee per RV with two three-day adult ticket packages. Lot 8 sits adjacent to the track's first turn. It costs $170 admission fee. Lot 9 is located adjacent to State Route 1 behind the front-stretch grandstands. The admission fee is $100 with two three-day ticket packages. Lot 10 has an admission fee of $60 including one race ticket. This lot is placed behind Lots 8 and 9 adjacent to Persimmon Tree Lane and Leipsic Road. These lots are for reserved guests and all prices are as of 2010.
RV Lots for the Disabled
The Dover International Speedway accommodates disabled fans. Lot 6 is located adjacent to the track's front stretch and is held in reserve for the disabled. This lot costs $60 admission fee with one race ticket for Saturday or Sunday. Lot 7 is a prepaid lot that costs $130 admission fee with one race ticket. This lot is located behind the grandstands on the right side of the front stretch, and it is reserved for the disabled. Services
The campgrounds at the Dover International Speedway include an assortment of free benefits such as shuttle service, water service, trash clean up, disposal station, and portable bathrooms. The track offers police security for each of its RV lots.
Camping Rules and Regulations
The Dover International Speedway lists a collection of rules and regulations for campers. The rules range from RV parking and prohibited parking areas to quiet hours, which promote more peaceful lodging. One of the rules is that all guests are required to sign a "release of liability" document. A list of prohibited items includes all weapons, fireworks, golf carts, motor bikes, ATVs and tents. All guests are asked to act in an orderly manner and must refrain from saving lot sites by roping or blocking them off. Ground fires are not permitted on the RV lots.
Off-site Tent and RV Camping
There are campgrounds nearby the Dover International Speedway that guests might consider. Campgrounds include the Lost Trails Campground, which is 10 miles from the track; Killens Pond State Park, which is 11 miles from the track; and Lake Bonnie Camp, which is 21 miles from the track.
