If you would rather skip the speed dating and bypass the online matchmaking scene, why not delve into meeting local singles who enjoy your recreational interests? It can be exciting to meet that perfect someone while playing a sport together, learning a new fitness technique, or even gathering for a group meal at a nearby healthy restaurant. Connecticut singles activities range from yoga to dancing. Whatever your preference for recreation, no matter what part of the state you reside in, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained and meeting fellow singles all year round.

Yoga

Singles yoga instruction in Glastonbury offer a fantastic opportunity to relieve stress while meeting people. The class focuses on a holistic approach to total body health and stress management. This affordable one-hour class is followed by optional socializing over dinner or drinks. Beginners through advanced yoga students are welcome. Bring your own mat or use one provided by the studio.

Hiking

Hike with other singles in various Connecticut locations each weekend. Hikes vary in difficulty and duration, ranging from four to 10 miles. Hikes tend to go at a moderate pace and can last between two-and-a-half and six-and-a-half or more hours. Children are welcome, but please don't bring pets.

Golf

Hartford singles can join a game of golf through the American Singles Golf Association (ASGA). ASGA's goal is to bring singles together to socialize over love of the game of golf, so you'll be sure to meet some folks who love the sport as much as you do. In addition to tournaments, Friday night and Sunday afternoon playing times are regularly scheduled. Members and non-members are welcome, although the fee to play is higher for non-members.

Skiing

The Hamden Ski Club, formerly the Singles Ski Club of New Haven, is a longstanding organization promoting singles fellowship over recreational and competitive skiing. Enjoy meeting and hanging out with fellow singles over an exciting day of downhill or cross-country skiing, snowboarding, alpine racing or snowshoeing. During non-winter months, the club offers opportunities to water ski, bike, camp, canoe, play tennis and golf.

Dance

If you love to dance and want to meet fellow singles who share your interest, there are plenty of singles dances in Connecticut. Dances are held each month in various cities across the state, including Hartford, Berlin, Southington and Farmington. Go alone or with a group of friends and enjoy soft rock and Top 40 music. It's a perfect excuse to dress up.
