Job seekers often don't know what to do once they finally receive an invitation to an interview. Knowing the company and having a professional attitude impresses companies and leaves a lasting image in their minds. You need to give employers a reason why they should hire you over everyone else.

Research

Find out everything you can about the company that wants to interview you. Companies look for people that can help them immediately. Learn the company's motto and goals to show that you are on the same page.

Dress Sharp

A first impression is very important. The employer has an image of you as soon as you walk through the door. Dress for the type of job that you are interviewing for. Wear a simple suit for business interviews and casual wear for jobs, such as factories or stores.

Exemplify

Employers are much more interested in results rather than skill sets. They want to know what you have already done for other companies that would help them in the future. Show examples of ways you have improved or helped at your previous workplaces.

Ask Questions

Employers like to see that you are interested in a position. Ask about the company and anything else that shows you have researched. It also shows them that you may be comparing their company to others that you are interviewing with, which will pressure them to offer you a job sooner.

Follow Up

Send a thank-you note after the interview. It shows that you have proper courtesy and your interest for the job. Even if the employer does not hire you for this job, the company may keep you in mind for future jobs due to how respectful and professional you conduct yourself.
