Sonicare toothbrushes, manufactured by the Philips corporation, are designed with soft bristles and contoured brush heads that oscillate at approximately 30,000 rpm, compared to standard electric toothbrush oscillation at 7,500 rpm.
Bristle Velocity
The brush movement, also known as the bristle velocity, of Sonicare brushes create high frequency and high amplitude motion. These combined motions, rather than scrubbing your teeth, mix toothpaste and saliva into a rich foam that cleans between and behind your teeth, and also massages your gums, which removes plaque and stimulates blood circulation.
Features
All Sonicare models feature built-in timers, alerting you when you have brushed for two minutes. They feature rechargeable lithium ion batteries that hold their charge for at least seven days, and come with a charging dock for easy recharging.
Models
Sonicare offers a variety of models to suit the needs of consumers, including: Essence and Xtreme, the basic models with two-minute brushing timers; Flexcare, with different settings for different lengths and brushing intensities; Flexcare+, with the same features as Flexcare, plus gum care mode for gum problems; HeathyWhite, for whiter teeth; and a Sonicare for kids model for children ages 4 to 10.
