Acne and blemishes extremely common skin problems, and they sometimes require medical treatment. If you suffer from occasional blemishes, however, you may find you can help heal them with a homemade mask to help clean your skin, remove impurities and soak up excess oil that can lead to clogged pores. Check with your doctor or dermatologist before using homemade masks if you suffer from severe acne or any other chronic skin condition.

Cucumber Cleansing Mask

Step 1

Pour 1 cup oatmeal and 1 tbsp. wheat bran into a blender and grind them into a powder on high speed.

Step 2

Transfer the powder to a bowl and stir in 2 tbsp. buttermilk, 2 tbsp. whipping cream, 1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 tbsp. plain yogurt, 1 tsp. of chopped, fresh mint leaves and half of a cucumber chopped into fine bits.

Step 3

Massage a gentle cleanser over your face with lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

Step 4

Apply the mask over your face, avoiding your eyes, lips and nostrils. Leave the mixture on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm water, recommends "Good Housekeeping." The cucumber slices help cool your face reducing inflammation from blemishes, while the oats and wheat bran help exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin cells and surface bacteria that contribute to breakouts.

Egg and Oatmeal Mask

Step 1

Use a fork or whisk to stir an egg yolk, 1 tbsp. of honey, 1 tbsp. of olive oil and 1/2 cup oatmeal together in a clean bowl. Continue to beat the mixture until it mixes thoroughly.

Step 2

Wash and rinse your face, patting it dry to prevent irritating your skin.

Step 3

Rub the mixture over your face and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water, advises Sharon Ronen, founder and owner of Skin Haven Spa Studio & WellSpa in Los Angeles, California. The egg whites and honey help soak up excess oil, leaving your skin smooth and clean.

Honey and Flour Mask

Step 1

Combine 1 tbsp. honey, 1 egg white, 1 tsp. glycerin and 3 tbsp. of flour together in a bowl. Purchase glycerin at your local drug or health and beauty store.

Step 2

Whisk the ingredients together until they form a smooth paste.

Step 3

Cleanse your face with a gentle soap and pat it dry.

Step 4

Smooth the mixture over your face and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Honey contains antimicrobial properties to help clear up minor blemishes without drying your skin, explains Janice Cox, author of "Natural Beauty at Home."
