There are many schools in New Hampshire that can prepare to student to become a registered nurse or a practical nurse. They include practical nurse programs, two-year associate degree registered nursing programs, baccalaureate nursing programs (resulting in a BSN degree), accelerated BSN programs for students with a bachelor's in a field other than nursing and direct-entry master's degree programs for students with a bachelor's in a field other than nursing who have no nursing experience.

Practical Nurse Programs

Programs are available at New Hampshire Technical Community College, New Hampshire Technical Institute, New England School of Practical Nursing, First Choice Training Institute, St. Joseph School of Nursing Harmony Health Care Institute and Care Med Educational Services.

Associate Degree Nursing Programs

These programs, which result in an ADN, or associate degree in nursing, prepare students to be registered nurses. They are offered at White Mountain Community College, River Valley Community College,
Lakes Region Community College, Manchester's Community College, Nashua Community College, Great Bay Community College, New Hampshire Technical Institute, Rivier College and St. Joseph School of Nursing.

Baccalaureate Nursing Programs

These schools offer a bachelor of science degree in nursing, typically a four-year program. At the end, the graduate prepares to become a registered nurse. They are Colby-Sawyer College, St. Anselm College and University of New Hampshire.

Accelerated Baccalaureate

If you already have a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing, this program will help you use some of your existing credits toward a BSN in less than four years. How long the program will take depends on whether your first degree included science classes that count toward the BSN and would not need to be retaken. The only school in the state that offers this is Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Manchester.

Direct-entry Master's Program

This program enables a student with no nursing experience to gain a master's of science degree in nursing (MSN) and also prepare for the registered nurse exam during the program. It is available at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
