If you're looking for a place to knock over some pins, you have many options throughout northeast Ohio. Many of the area's bowling alleys have leagues for singles and teams of all ages, from kids to seniors. Some bowling centers offer regular events like cosmic bowling with bright lights and loud music in a party environment. All listed prices are current as of 2010.

Cleveland Area Alleys

The Corner Alley provides an upscale atmosphere featuring bowling, a martini bar and a restaurant. Bowling prices are a bit expensive, as patrons must rent an entire lane for $50 per hour.
The family-owned Maple Heights Lanes, established in 1991, is a small 12-lane facility that hosts karaoke nights, cosmic bowling events and private parties for as many as 100 people. Cloverleaf Lanes opened in the 1950s and now offers 46 lanes in a relaxed environment.

Other Northeast Ohio Alleys

Voted the cleanest bowling alley in Northeast Ohio by readers of a local newspaper, Wickliffe Lanes in Wickliffe offers All You Can Bowl three nights a week. For $5 you can bowl as much as you like during a 3-hour period.
Sonny's Bowling, Bar & Grill in Geneva combines bowling with beer and food specials. Cortland Lanes in Cortland offers open bowling seven days a week and occasionally posts coupons on its website.

Leagues and Events

You can find specialized leagues at most bowling alleys in northeast Ohio. Corner Alley offers a Happy Hour league while Maple Heights Lanes hosts various mixed couples and social leagues.
Wickliffe Lanes has more than 50 leagues for men and women of all ages, including Senior Swingers, Century Seniors and Senior Ladies Doubles groupings. Cortland Lanes hosts an annual mixed doubles tournament with cash prizes.

Cosmic Bowling

Freeway Lanes in Cleveland turns into a virtual dance club on Friday and Saturday nights for its cosmic bowling nights, which feature light shows, fog machines and music videos. For between $10 and $15, patrons can bowl for two hours during the cosmic events.
Sonny's hosts a Cosmic Quartermania event on Thursdays. After paying a $5 cover, patrons can bowl, rent shoes and buy a hot dog for only 25 cents each.

Kids' Events

Wickliffe Lanes provides bumper bowling leagues for kids ages 3 to 6 and five different age-grouped junior leagues for bowlers ranging from 5 to 21. Wickliffe also hosts an Adult/Junior league for teams consisting of one adult and one child, and provides a venue for kids' birthday parties on Saturday afternoons for $30 per lane. Sonny's and Freeway Lanes both offer Saturday morning kids' leagues.
