If quick weight loss always seems like a dream and never a reality, it is time to live the dream. When you make the decision to lose 10 pounds, you want those pounds to drop quickly. Count calories, diet, exercise and stay hydrated to drop a quick 10 pounds. With proper guidance and motivation, you can look and feel happy and healthy. Follow these steps and feel lighter quickly.

Step 1

Cut your daily caloric intake. According to Mackie Shilstone, author of the "Fat Burning Bible," never cut your caloric intake below 1,200 calories per day. A drastic cut in calories can cause your body to go into starvation mode, which makes it more difficult to burn fat. A reduction of 500 calories a day is a good place to start. If you do not want to make this decision on your own, a registered dietitian or certified personal trainer can help determine a suitable amount of calories for your body.

Step 2

Cleanse yourself. According to Natalia Rose, author of "The Raw Food Detox Diet," you can begin a diet full of quick-exit foods that will allow the body to release its stored fat and cleanse itself. Rose suggests a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and green tea, which are quick-exit foods. Start the day with green tea, consume a raw lunch of fresh vegetables and fruits, and eat steamed vegetables with a tossed salad at dinner. These simple tricks will help cleanse the stored fat from your body.

Step 3

Drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Drinking water will prevent bloating, nourish your muscles, leave you feeling satisfied and aid in the digestion process while preventing fat buildup. Eliminate sodas, alcohol and other high-calorie, sugary drinks from your diet altogether.

Step 4

Ramp up your cardiovascular routine. Add an extra 15 minutes to your current cardio session. This can add up to about 100 to 150 extra calories burned. If you do not currently have a cardio workout, engage in moderately intense cardio for 30 minutes a day, five days a week. If time is a factor, the American College of Sports Medicine suggests a vigorously intense workout three days a week for 20 minutes.

Tips and Warnings

  • As an alternative to Step 2, try a one-day juice diet, which can offer you one pound of weight loss in one day and the potential for three to five pounds in two or three days. It is important to remember this diet is not suitable for long-term, healthy weight loss, but can serve as a quick fix.
