Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is just 40 miles south of Nashville. This historic town is home to the Stones River National Battlefield. These 600 acres bore witness to the Civil War Battle of Stones River, which began in the waning December days of 1862. Today, guides conduct tours for visitors between May and October. The American Indian Festival is held every March, and the Main Street JazzFest is held each May.Campgrounds extend all around the area within a radius of roughly 30 miles of Murfreesboro.
Murfreesboro
The Rock Haven Lodge is a full nudist campground for families, secured within 25 wooded acres. Smyrna
Within 15 miles of Murfreesboro is Smyrna, and its Nashville I-24 Campground is a year-round, full-service Good Sam campground. There are 100 sites, with shaded pull-through spaces, a tent area and four cabins. Amenities include a large outdoor summer pool, a playground and half basketball court. A convenience store, rec room and playground are also available. About halfway between Nashville and Murfreesboro, this campsite offers easy access to the attractions offered by either city.
LaVerne
About 18 miles from Murfreesboro is Poole Knobs Campgrounds in LaVerne. Its 87 campsites provide water and electric hookups, and there is also a group camping site. Hot showers and a public phone is provided. Located on J. Percy Priest Lake, you can also enjoy fishing or hunting, horseback riding or canoeing. There is also a marina. Also close to Nashville in addition to Murfreesboro, you can enjoy either city activities in Music City or the rustic beauty of the lake.
Unionville
Riverview Primitive Camp is located less than 30 miles away in Unionville, and it provides quiet and clean campsites that are patrolled and kept mowed. No dump or electricity is available. In nearby Chapel Hill is the 1140-acre Henry Horton State Park. Play a few rounds on their 18-hole championship golf course, or swim in the Olympic-sized pool. Fish the river or shoot a few rounds on the Trap and Skeet Range.
Lebanon
Roughly 30 miles from Murfreesboro is Lebanon, Tennessee, which is home to Cedars of Lebanon State Park. No primitive camping is available; instead there are 117 campsites with electric and water hookups. Picnic tables and grills are provided, along with three bath houses and seasonal camp store. Amenities include an Olympic-sized swimming pool with two diving boards, a group lodge and 18 miles of hiking trails through forest and glades. There is also a nature center.
