Organic foods are grown and produced without the use of synthetic pesticides or chemicals. While you can buy baked goods that are certified organic, you can also bake your own at home using organic ingredients. Look for organic grains, flour, sugar and seasonings in your grocery or health food store. You can adapt almost any oatmeal raisin cookie recipe to an organic version by using certain ingredients.
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine the flour, oats, salt, soda and cinnamon in a bowl. Mix well.
Step 2
Cream the butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl. When they are thoroughly combined, beat in the eggs.
Step 3
Stir the dry ingredients into the butter and sugar mixture, which will be a very thick consistency. Stir with the wooden spoon until well combined.
Step 4
Fold in the raisins. Mix well.
Step 5
Butter the cookie sheet. Scoop up a tablespoon of cookie dough. Use a second spoon to scrape the spoonful of dough onto the cookie sheet. Leave at least 1 inch of space between the cookies.
Step 6
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven when cookies have flattened and are light brown on top.
Step 7
Remove the cookies from the cookie sheet with a spatula and cool on a cooling rack for 10 minutes.
