Review of an Easton Synergy Baseball Bat

In 2010 the Synergy Speed is Easton's most technologically advanced and expensive composite baseball bat. It features a minus three length to weight ratio. This means that the length in inches will always be three units greater than the weight in ounces.

Specifications

Synergy Speed bat sizes range from 31 inches and 28 ounces to 34 inches and 31 ounces.

Style

The model available for view on Easton's website features a black leather handle and a red neck. The barrel is white and the Easton symbol and Synergy graphic is detailed on the barrel in black, gray and red.

Features

According to Easton, the Synergy baseball bat features "exclusive" IMX composite technology based on "aerospace-grade composite fibers." These fibers are "angled and layered to maximize the hitting area of the bat" and to reduce vibration. The bat also features a thin tapered handle with "Pro-Tack" grip.

Cost

In 2010 the bat is available for purchase on Easton's website for $349.99; the regular price of the bat is $399.99. Bargain prices for the bat are currently available on many online wholesaler sites such as Home Run Monkey which is currently selling the bat for $219 (clearance).

Considerations

Composite baseball bats generally require more care than do wood or aluminum bats; they should not be exposed to cold temperatures for prolonged periods or they can shatter. Rotating the bat in your hands after contact with the ball can increase the life span of the bat.
