Minneola is located in Lake County, Florida, 30 miles west of Orlando. The area surrounding Minneola includes the city of Clermont and offers many tent and RV camping options. Campgrounds near Minneola are within easy reach of the recreational and sporting opportunities provided by Lake Minneola and Lake Apopka, such as canoeing, kayaking and swimming.

RV Campgrounds

Bee's RV Resort has spaces for RVs with full hookup facilities and optional cable TV and Wi-Fi access. Amenities include a solar-heated pool, coin laundry, hot showers, a restaurant and activity center. Torchlight RV Park and Campground is located in Clermont and offers shaded and sunny sites, concrete pads, picnic tables and bathhouses. Staying at either site ensures easy access to Lake Louisa State Park and the Withlacoochee State Forest as well as the range of lakes in the region for fishing, boating and swimming.

State Park Camping

Stay in a state park in a tent or RV. Wekiwa Springs State Park offers paddling along the Wekiwa River and 13 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horse riding. You can choose the full-facility campground or the primitive tent camping areas. The equipped campground has 60 spacious sites with water and electricity hook-up. Lake Louisa State Park has 60 campsites and over 20 miles of hiking trails, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

Accessibility

Most campgrounds in the Minneola area are easily accessed by road and suitable for both RVs and tents. For example, the campsites in Lake Louisa State Park, which is seven miles south of Clermont, has full hookup facilities. You have other options in Lake Louisa State Park if you want a back-to-nature camping experience. Camp at the primitive campgrounds at Wilderness Point and Pine Point where you will need to backpack in and out and carry your own water and trash.

Trails

Any campground near Minneola is close to the Lake Minneola Scenic Trail and its continuation, the Clermont Trail. This 5.5-mile mostly urban trail is constructed on a railroad bed linking the cities of Clermont and Winter Garden and offers scenic views of the lake. The Lake Minneola Scenic Trail is suitable for bikers of all levels and can be connected to the 22-mile West Orange Trail in the east as well as to the National Training Center in Clermont for triathlon athletes who want to train in the lake.

Golf

For a campground near Minneola with easy access to fairways and greens, stop by the Clerbrook Resort, which is set among the hills of Clermont. Clerbrook Resort has an on-site 18-hole golf course and provides instructional classes. Further amenities include a pro-golf shop and driving range. Or stay at the Shady Brook Golf & RV Resort in Sumterville, which has an 18-hole course, or try the nine-hole executive course at Lake Harris Resort.

Fishing

Take advantage of some quality fishing while you are on your camping trip around the Minneola area. The Clermont Chain of Lakes is comprised of 11 lakes including Lake Minneola and Lake Louisa. Use the public boat ramps on these two lakes, or fish from shore at the fishing pier located on Lake Minneola. You will see bluegill and red ear sunfish as well as channel catfish and largemouth bass. All lakes in the chain are Fish Management Areas, so a fishing license is generally required.

Weather

Stay at a campground in Minneola in the summer and you will likely enjoy warm weather with the chance of rain. The average warmest month is July with an average temperature of between 71 and 92 degrees F. June has the highest amount of rainfall in the year: around 7.86 inches in the month. In the winter, Minneola temperatures range between 48 and 72 degrees F. Fall and spring are pleasant times to visit and provide warm temperatures and little rainfall.
