Organizations working with at-risk youth, or individuals interested in starting or expanding programs to help at-risk youth, can access a number of grants for their projects and programs. When searching, consider grants available specifically for programs in your state or county; the amount of the organization's grant may be smaller, but often there is less competition, meaning you may be more likely to land the grant. Also consider the specific activities--such as sports, education or programs for teen girls-- you plan to undertake and search for organizations or companies in those fields that offer specific funding for at-risk youth.

To apply, submit a proposal according to the specific areas of emphasis and requests for proposals listed on Hasbro Children's Fund's website. Community grants are also annually allocated in Springfield, Massachusetts and Renton, Washington. The grants range from $1,000 and $10,000.

Sun Life Rising Star Awards Program
An initiative of the U.S. division of Sun Life Financial, this program awards grants to nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia area that work with at-risk youth under age 21 in the areas of education engagement and/or promoting high school graduation. Three grants of $50,000 are awarded in the Philadelphia area and, as part of the process, each nonprofit receiving an award may then nominate a student participating in the organization for a $5,000 individual scholarship. This program is also unique in the fact that organizations receiving grants also have the chance to receive a curriculum and training on how to incorporate financial education into their programs.
