A heart rate monitor provides information about your pulse rate during a workout. A chest strap is included which you wear while exercising. The strap sends data about your heart rate which is displayed on the watch. Some models transmit the information through an analog signal. More expensive Timex monitors use newer digital transmission. The same information is displayed, but digital signals are more reliable.
