Dark, thick upper lip hair can be embarrassing and unsanitary, so removing it may be high on your list of priorities. Thick hair is too tedious to remove by plucking and a chemical depilatory may burn your nose or mouth. Shaving will only ensure that the hairs grow back in a thick stubble. That leaves waxing and sugar waxing as your options and both applications are ideal for removing that unwanted hair.
Sugar Waxing
Step 1
Heat the sugar with the water and lemon juice over medium heat until the temperature of the mixture reaches 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the mix from the heat and allow it to cool until it reaches a firm consistency similar to a slick putty.
Step 2
Pinch off a piece of the sugar wax and use your fingers to mold it to your upper lip over the hair. Smooth the sugar down so it fully encapsulates the hair.
Step 3
Let the sugar sit for 10 seconds. Take hold of one end of the sugar gel while you pull the skin of your face taut by rolling your lip over your top teeth. Pull the sugar swiftly off your skin against the growth of hair.
Step 4
Pluck any remaining hair and wipe off excess sugar with a warm, damp cloth.
Commercial Wax
Step 1
Follow the directions included with the wax to heat it to the suitable temperature.
Step 2
Use the enclosed spatula to spread the wax across your upper lip. Quickly rub the included strip across the wax. Let sit for 10 seconds.
Step 3
Roll your upper lip over your top teeth to pull the skin taut as you grab an end of the strip and pull it quickly against the growth of hair.
Step 4
Pluck any remaining hair and use the enclosed wipe to clean your skin of wax residue.
Tips and Warnings
- Because the skin of your face is sensitive, don't wax an area more than once a session. Use tweezers to clean up any hairs that the waxing didn't remove.
