Pantainorasingh Thai Tea is the brand name of a Thai tea that comes in powder form. This tea is generally served cold with condensed milk for a rich textured flavor, but can also be served hot. There are only two ingredients listed for this tea; green tea, also known as Camellia sinensis, and FD and C Yellow No. 6.
Green Tea
The main ingredient in Thai tea Pantainorasingh is green tea. Green tea, or Camellia sinensis, is tea that is made with the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The leaves are dried before they ferment, which is why it is referred to as green, and not black. Green tea is a powerful antioxidant, which hinders cancer growth and assist in over all health.
FD & C Yellow No. 6
FD and C Yellow No. 6 is a color additive, which gives the tea its orange/yellow appearance. FD & C stands for "Food Drugs and Cosmetic" dyes. This anagram comes from the Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, which, in 1938, gave regulatory power to the United States Food and Drug Administration, or FDA. This dye color is also used in cereals, snacks, ice cream and confections.
Preparation
There are a few different ways to enjoy Thai Tea Pantainorasingh. It can be made into an iced tea by infusing the tea and then cooling it. Adding a sweetened, condensed milk to this is recommended. It can also be made into a Thai tea with lime, which is called Cha Manao. In this case you would sweeten the tea with sugar and add lime. The tea can also be served warm, again using the condensed milk to sweeten.
