Child support fraud not only affects children, but taxpayers as well. Defined by the Rhode Island Department of Human Services as the act of falsifying documents, living with the non custodial parent, failure to report wages and claiming support after the child has left the home, child support fraud is a very serious crime. If you are witness to or suspect child support fraud, it is important to report everything you know to the proper authorities.

Step 1

Contact the Child Support Enforcement Office where the person's child support case is housed. According to the State of Delaware website, you may be asked to provide your name, phone number, address and email address in case you are called to be a witness in a civil or criminal case against the offender.

Step 2

Report any witnessed or suspected fraudulent behavior in detail. Investigators need to know what to look for in order to determine effective ways of proving fraud. According to the State of Delaware website, you will remain anonymous to third parties throughout the investigation, however, you will not be privy to any information regarding the case you have reported.

Step 3

Report the full name, address, phone number and any other identifying information you have on the person committing fraudulent acts. According to the State of Delaware website, personal information such as case numbers and social security numbers are not required, however, they will help expedite suspect identification within the computer system.
