Working from home can be a dream come true for many who work a 9 to 5 job. The problem is finding a job that will give you a good income and is legitimate. Places like the "Help Wanted" section of your local newspaper, online sites such as Craislist.com, and other online job sites all have work-at-home opportunities. These opportunities can be found in nearly every job listing resource, but navigating your way through all the work-from-home job listings to find real, honest work can be a challenge. Once you get that perfect job, it can all be made worth it in the end.
Step 1
Be prepared to sort through a lot of jobs that are not real. Even sites that host only "work-from-home" jobs do not always post legitimate jobs for those looking for home employment. Be ready to do a good deal of research before you jump into any of these working opportunities.
Step 2
Be wary of jobs that offer ways to get rich quick or jobs that offer thousands of dollars in only a week. Most of these jobs are not real. In the same vein, be wary of any job where you have to pay to make any money. Most of these job offers are ways for the people selling them to get rich quick at your expense.
Step 3
Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if the business is accredited. BBB qualified businesses are reputable and must meet accreditation standards.
Step 4
Request in writing what your responsibilities will be as well as how and when you will get paid and how much. This is information you would get from any other job, so if they aren't willing to give you even that basic information, it is best to steer clear of them.
Step 5
Search for the name of the company and the term "complaints" or "scams" in an internet search engine. There are many forums that house complaints and warnings from those who have previously dealt with these places.
Step 6
Always make sure to be careful with the jobs you are looking for. Even if you follow all of these practices you may still get wound up in a scam; though if you are careful and prudent, you may end up finding the work-at-home job of your dreams.
