How to Troubleshoot a Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier

Vicks Ultrasonic humidifier outputs a cool mist to freshen rooms or provide relief from cold and flu symptoms. It includes a demineralization cartridge to filter water and control mineral content. Use a Vicks scent pad to add a scent to the fresh air that the humidifier emits. With its simple operation and only a few parts and controls, most issues you will need to troubleshoot will involve either the unit not producing mist or mineral buildup. There are a few factors that commonly cause these issues.

Step 1

Place the humidifier on a level surface and make sure it is filled with water if it produces little or no mist.

Step 2

Clean the nebulizer and water sensor to remove water deposits that may be blocking the mist output.

Step 3

Check the water level in the base to verify the water sensor is submerged, which is necessary to engage the blower to output mist.

Step 4

Remove the demineralization cartridge if the humidifier produces little or no mist. Turn the humidifier on. If it now produces mist, replace the demineralization cartridge with a new cartridge.

Step 5

Fill the water tank with distilled water or replace the demineralization cartridge if you notice white dust accumulating in the tank.
