The NordicTrack EXP1000 provides the user with a comfortable, in-home cardio workout. This treadmill features DuraSoft shock absorption which softens the impact when you make contact with the walking belt. The maximum speed is 10 mph, and the walking belt inclines up to 10 percent. The EXP1000 offers three preset workout programs. Pulse sensors are located on the inner handles allowing you to easily check your heart rate. The NordicTrack EXP1000 has a space-saving design and folds up for easy storage.

Step 1

Turn on the EXP1000. The power switch is located near the power cord at the base of the unit. Attach the safety clip to your waistband. Stand on the treadmill foot rails. Insert the magnetic key into the console. The console will power on.

Step 2

Input your weight. Entering your weight will provide more accurate calorie information. Press one of the "weight" buttons. Continue pressing the up and down arrow key to set your weight. The display will automatically save the information when a button hasn't been pushed for four seconds.

Step 3

Input your age. Press one of the buttons marked "age." Continue pressing the up or down arrow keys until your current age is displayed. The setting will save when you don't press a button for four seconds.

Step 4

Choose manual mode. In manual mode, you control the speed and incline settings. The manual mode automatically displays when the console key is inserted. Press the "Start" button. The belt begins moving at 1 mph. Use the speed plus and minus buttons to change the speed by 0.1 mph. Holding a key down advances the speed in 0.5 mph increments.

Step 5

Select a preset program. The treadmill will automatically change the speed and incline settings. After inserting the magnetic key, press the "Select Program" button. Each press of the button cycles through one of three programs: Mountain Trail, Gorge Trail or Canyon Run. Press the "Start" button to initiate the workout. You can override the program settings at any time by pressing any of the incline or speed buttons.

Step 6

Check your heart rate. Grasp the inner handles until your heart rate appears on the display.

Step 7

Stop your workout. Press the "Stop" button. Step onto the foot rails. Remove the magnetic key from the console.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you want to fold your treadmill for storage, first set the incline to 1 percent.
