Popular Things to Do in New York

New York is a state that holds a significant amount of tourist appeal, as there are many sights to see and things to do in the Empire State. Visitors and residents alike enjoy partaking in many popular activities in the Big Apple as well as the surrounding rural areas. Whether it's hiking or sightseeing, there are an endless amount of attractions in New York.

The Empire State Building

Perhaps one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York City is the Empire State Building. Currently the tallest skyscraper in Manhattan, the building stands more than a quarter-mile high. Tickets are available for purchase to travel to the top of the tower to partake in a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline and streets below. The building also features several restaurants and tourist shops for you to enjoy.

Times Square

Perhaps equally iconic to the Empire State Building is Times Square. Located on 42nd Street and Broadway, Times Square is always bustling with people and is home to the famous New Year's Eve ball-drop celebration. The area recently began adding public seating and tables for people to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and views. Times Square features an incredible amount of shops, including the large Toys R Us that features a four-story Ferris wheel.

New York Museums

New York City is home to an incredible amount of historical, cultural and educational museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located on 5th Avenue by Central Park and East 84th Street. The museum houses many ancient artworks and historical pieces from past civilizations.

The Museum of Natural History is located across Central Park at 79th Street and Central Park West. This museum features exhibits based on nature and organisms, including the famous displays of dinosaur fossils.

The Baseball Hall of Fame

There are many activities and things to see outside of New York City as well. For those who are fans, the National Baseball Hall of Fame is located in Cooperstown, New York. Every summer, new players are given the honor to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in July on Induction Sunday. Tickets are available for purchase to enter the Hall of Fame, which offers historical exhibits of the great players of the sport as well as tours and video presentations.

Niagara Falls

Located on the border between New York State and Canada, Niagara falls is yet another iconic tourism location. Niagara Falls State Park is a great location for outdoor and touring activities, offering boat rides such as the "Maid of the Mist" and aquarium tours as well. The park is truly a one-of-a-kind experience to view the rushing torrents of water through cave tours and boat tours. There are also beautiful hiking trails for nature lovers as well as shopping destinations for families.
