An in-ground trampoline provides a measure of safety for all who use it. The likelihood of injury is lessened since there are no sharp falls from the mat to the ground. If you are considering this type of installation, however, you should take into account several potential problems; namely, cave-ins, sinking and flooding. To avoid such problems, you'll need to install an underground drainage system and build a solid masonry wall. Once you find a space where you can place a trampoline in the ground, you must follow certain steps.
Step 1
Measure the height and width of your trampoline. Allow for approximately a foot of lateral space so air may flow in and out from beneath the trampoline. The frame of the trampoline should be one foot above ground level to allow for better bouncing. The width of the hole should be equal to the width of your trampoline to prevent cave-ins.
Step 2
Use a backhoe or shovel to dig the pit for your trampoline.
Step 3
Install perforated drainage pipes at the center of the circular foundation. When it rains, water can be siphoned through the length of the pipe, reducing standing water.
Step 4
Place masonry blocks on the side walls of the trampoline. Ensure that they stay put by spreading mortar between each block; allow it to dry for at least four to six hours.
Step 5
Place the trampoline frame inside the hole and add the mat on top. Fasten the mat to the frame by attaching it to the springs.
Step 6
Secure a safety pad on top of the springs so it remains stable. Your in-ground trampoline is ready for use.
