Though there are many creams and ointments available as over-the-counter or prescription treatments for stretch marks and other skin irritations, these treatments are often expensive and somewhat unnatural. However, there are some natural, simple ways to remove unwanted stretch marks with ingredients you may already have at home. These remedies have not been approved by the FDA in some cases however, so consult your doctor if you are concerned about their safety.

Salt, Honey and Glycerin Scrub

According to Julie Gabriel, author of "The Green Beauty Guide: Your Essential Resource to Organic and Natural Skin Care, Hair Care, Makeup, and Fragrances," a mixture of salt, honey and glycerin can be used to make a body scrub that can help get rid of stretch marks. To use this natural remedy, combine ½ tsp. salt, 1 tsp. honey and 1 tsp. glycerin in a small container and stir to combine. Massage the mixture onto your skin for five minutes and rinse with lukewarm water and wash with a gentle cleanser. Pat the skin dry and apply your regular moisturizer. This treatment should be used twice per day for maximum benefit, and unused portions should be kept in the refrigerator for later use for no more than 48 hours.

Vitamin A Ointment and Vitamin E Oil

According to Stephanie L. Tourles, author of "Organic Body Care Recipes: 175 Homemade Herbal Formulas for Glowing Skin & a Vibrant Self," a mixture of vitamin A ointment and vitamin E oil can help to get rid of stretch marks when applied on a regular basis. To make and use this mixture, combine 1 tsp. vitamin A ointment and 1 tbsp. vitamin E oil in a small container and stir. Massage a small amount of this mixture onto the area of skin with stretch marks and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse your skin with lukewarm water and wash with a gentle cleanser before applying your regular moisturizer. This treatment should be used two times per day, and unused portions should be kept in a cool, dark place for one week or less.

Carrot, Tangerine Peel and Olive Oil Scrub

According to Jethro Kloss, author of "Back To Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods, and Home Remedies since 1939," a mixture of fresh carrots, tangerine peel and olive oil can be used to make a scrub that can help to remove stretch marks from the skin. To make and use this mixture, combine ½ carrot, the peel of 1 whole tangerine and 4 tbsp. olive oil in a blender or food processor and puree on high speed for 20 seconds. Massage the mixture onto wet skin in the bathtub or shower. Rinse the area with lukewarm water and pat dry before applying your regular moisturizer. This treatment should be used once per day and unused portions should be kept in the refrigerator for five days.
