Age spots appear on your skin when you have been out in the sun for too long. The UV rays of light damage your skin cells and causes the amount of melanin in your skin to increase. Melanin is what makes your skin darker. The UV rays of light also damage the collagen and elastin in your skin; chemicals that keep your skin looking young and healthy. Without them, your skin is much more likely to form age spots. There are ways your can remove your age spots naturally. The key is to clean your skin and use the right natural ingredients.
Step 1
Keep your skin away from the sun. UV rays of light hitting your skin are the cause of your age spots, so if you want to fade them you have to stay out of the sun. If you must go outside, try to cover the parts of your body where your age spots are located. Wear long sleeves, a hat, sunglasses and long pants. Also, cover your skin with a sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30.
Step 2
Use lemon juice to remove your age spots naturally. Lemon juice contains a natural bleach that over time can help remove your age spots naturally. Buy a bottle of lemon juice or squeeze the juice from a real lemon into a bowl. Dip a cotton ball into the lemon juice and apply to your age spots. Let the lemon juice soak and evaporate on your skin.
Step 3
Use buttermilk to remove your age spots naturally. Just like lemon juice, buttermilk also contains a natural bleach that over time may help remove your age spots. But a carton of buttermilk at the grocery store and pour a 1/2 cup into a bowl. Dip a cotton ball into the liquid and apply to your age spots. Let the buttermilk evaporate on your skin.
Step 4
Rub the skin around your age spots with a loofah, a sponge-like cleaner that will exfoliate your skin. Make sure you buy a loofah that has hard fibers so you can rub off the first layer of your skin. The top layer of skin contains dead skin and skin that has the most melanin. By removing the melanin from your skin, you can fade your age spots. Add a milk soap to the loofah and scrub your age spots. Rub firmly, but not so hard that you damage your skin. Repeat two to three times per week, every week.
