Phoenix, Arizona, offers a hot, dry climate with warm winters and endless sunshine. The large city has a lot to offer travelers. With breathtaking desert views and mountains a short drive away, it is easy to stay active and fit in Phoenix. There are a number of clubs that make it easy to meet people and enjoy all that Phoenix has to offer.

Skiing

Despite the heat that Phoenix is known for, snow-covered mountains are just a short drive away. If you are interested in skiing, consider joining the Phoenix Ski Club. Membership is only $45 per year as of 2010, and you will have the opportunity to join ski trips to Colorado, California, Wyoming and Idaho. In addition to ski trips, the club has dinner events around Phoenix and attends other events such as running or walking in the Race for the Cure, Oktoberfest and car shows.

Hiking

Phoenix, Arizona, the "Valley of the Sun," is surrounded by beautiful mountains that are perfect for hiking. Mountain biking, climbing, camping and backpacking are also common activities. The club offers lessons, dances and events on a regular basis. Dancing at various clubs is available every night of the week.

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding through the deserts and mountains of Phoenix is an unforgettable experience. You will encounter incredible views, saguaro cacti and desert creatures. If you have your own horse and would like to find others to ride with, consider the Glendale Equestrian Club. The club goes on several rides a month on various trails throughout Phoenix and the surrounding areas.
