There isn't a shortage of entertaining activities to take up in New York City, as the area is home to museums, Broadway shows and unparalleled shopping. However, in the city that doesn't sleep, there are also many late-night Saturday options for the health-conscious traveler. From healthy dining options to after-hours biking and walking, explorations abound throughout the city.

Yoga

Break a sweat with a Saturday night yoga class. There are various choices throughout the city, and classes are a great way to meet new people while getting a great workout. There are options for beginning yoga to advanced students, and some Saturday night classes include a DJ, musicians or candlelight yoga. Although classes cost upward of $20, there are donation and sliding-scale payment options at some classes in the city.

Bowling

Try for a strike at one of the night bowling options in New York City. On Saturday nights, many bowling alleys feature glow-in-the-dark bowling, music and arcades. Bowling alleys offer everything you'll need to bowl, including shoe rentals and bowling balls in various weights. If you're bowling with small children on a Saturday night, consider renting an alley with inflatable tubes, also known as bumper bowling, which are placed in the alley's gutters. Plus, bowling isn't just a fun sport, it also keeps the joints flexible and builds arm muscles.

Central Park Tour

Take a self-guided Saturday night tour through Central Park. The park offers audio guides for visitors. To use these guides, look for signs throughout the park, which will prompt you with a phone number to dial on a cell phone. Visitors will hear a New York celebrity explain in a recorded message exactly what is being seen and the interesting story behind it. Central Park also has suggested south end, mid- and north end self-guided tours, which leads travelers to sites such as the Hallett Nature Sanctuary, King Jagiello statue and Turtle Pond. The park closes at 1 a.m. and is open every day of the year.

Bike

Get exercise and explore the city by bike on a Saturday night in New York. Bike rentals are available at various locations throughout New York City, and most offer overnight rentals so travelers can ride bikes late at night. Take a map and ask the bike rental company for suggested routes to explore what interests you most. Central Park, Times Square and Union Square are popular places to explore by bike. For a guided tour, some rental companies have a three-hour Saturday night city tour that takes riders through Washington Square Park, Madison Square Park and Greenwich Village.

Basketball

Play a game of basketball with the locals at one of New York City's hundreds of night basketball courts. According to the Hudson River Park Trust, the Chelsea Waterside Basketball Court and the Harrison Street court in Tribeca are open until 1 a.m. year-round. Both courts are free. According to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, organized leagues must have a permit to use the courts. Wheelchair basketball is also offered at some locations in New York City on Saturday nights. Check with the Department of Parks and Recreations for locations.
