The longboard resembles the conventional skateboard yet has a larger length and width. The smaller conventional skateboard rocks back and forth when it reaches top speed. This phenomenon, known as the "speed wobbles," can cause the skater to lose control of the board. The longboard's larger construction allows the rider to maintain control in high-speed situations. Longboard manufacturers produce boards that have lengths of 5 feet or more. The street skateboard has an approximate length of 2 feet 6 inches. Building the longboard helps the skater to understand its components.
Step 1
Place the elements of the longboard on a level surface. Rip open the bag of hardware and organize the eight small nuts and bolts into one pile with the remaining four larger nuts into a second pile.
Step 2
Place each longboard wheel on its side. Open the container of eight bearings and place two by each wheel. Push two bearings into each longboard wheel with the knob located on the skateboard tool.
Step 3
Place one wheel onto each side of the wide longboard trucks. Secure the longboard wheels in place by tightening one of the large nuts over each of the two wheels. Construct the remaining truck in the same fashion.
Step 4
Pick up the wooden component of the longboard and turn it on its side. Push one small bolt into every one of the holes located at the front and back of the longboard. Turn the longboard over to expose the bottom graphics.
Step 5
Situate the two longboard trucks onto the small bolts protruding from the bottom of the longboard. Fasten one small nut to the end of each bolt with the corresponding tip of the skateboard tool.
