Physical education is featured in grade school education curriculums throughout the United States. The class is intended to help you have an active lifestyle and instill an interest in physical activity and life skills. P.E. classes also provide an outlet for you to release energy during the school day, both through organized sports and through a variety of simple, exciting games.

Dodgeball

Dodgeball is a classic P.E. game commonly played throughout the United States. It consists of two teams playing on a predetermined court, which is split into two sides. Your team has to stay on its side of the court and only field balls that come your way. The objective is for your team to clear the other court of the opposing players by striking them with balls made of foam or rubber. To get a player out, you must hit the player with a ball before the ball touches the ground. You can also be called out if your throw is caught by the opposing team. Catching a ball also allows that team to get one of its teammates back. Some school districts have banned this game, believing it promotes bullying.

Knockout

Knockout is a simple basketball-related game that focuses on the most fundamental of skills---shooting. To play knockout, line up a group of players behind the free throw line of a basketball court. Give one ball each to the first two players in the line. The first player takes a shot first. Once the first player has shot, the second player attempts a shot. At any point during the game, you are out if the player behind you makes a shot before you do. If you do make the shot before the person behind you, then you are safe and must give the ball to the next person in line. This continues until the group is whittled down and eventually only one player remains.

Capture the Flag

Capture the Flag is versatile because it can played either outside or inside, depending on the weather. It can also be played with a large group of children when the playing field is large enough. The rules are simple: each team has a flag placed near the back middle of its side of the playing field. Players from your team run across the playing field in an effort to grab the flag and return it to your side of the field. If you are tagged by an opposing team member when on the other side of the field, you are out and must return to your side of the field. A point is scored every time your team carries the opposing team's flag back to your side without being tagged, and the game continues until one team reaches a predetermined point total.
