The Prince Tennis Company markets and sells several lines of tennis racquets. The racquets are designed with innovative technology to meet the needs of all players, from those just starting out to those playing on the professional tour.
History
The first Prince tennis racquet was designed in 1975 by Howard Head. It was the first oversize metal racquet on the market. To produce and market his new design, in 1976 Head bought the Prince Sports Manufacturing Co., a small company which only made tennis ball throwing machines.
Racquet Features
Prince has manufactured racquets with head sizes ranging from 90 sq. inches to 125 sq. inches. Racquet lengths have varied from the standard 27 inches to 28 1/2 inches. The racquet power levels range from 650 to 1650. The higher the racquet's number, the more powerful it is.
Benefits
Playing with a Prince racquet which has a large head size provides a larger sweetspot. This is the area on the string bed where, at ball contact, there is no jarring vibration. Players have more success on off-center shots. A longer racquet provides more reach, more leverage on serves and overhead strokes. Powerful racquets do more work for a tennis player, where low powered racquets are designed for strong aggressive players.
