Golf grips get plenty of abuse considering they're your only connection to the club. Grips take on dirt, perspiration, soak up UV rays and heat from the sun and occasionally get wet in a downpour. Worn grips cause you to hold the club tighter, tension that robs of you of power and distance. Take proper care of your grips so they'll last longer and help you play your best.

Rubber or Corded Grips

Step 1

Add two drops of dish detergent to the towel. Rub down the grips thoroughly.

Step 2

Work a mild brush along the length of the grips. Rinse the detergent off with warm running water. Do not immerse the grip in water.

Step 3

Towel-dry the grips and let air dry for two hours before use.

Soft Grips

Step 1

Apply two drops of dish soap to a soft cloth.

Step 2

Rub the grip thoroughly with the cloth. Do not use brushes or abrasive material.

Step 3

Rinse the grip completely with warm water, but do not immerse the grip in water.

Winn Grips

Step 1

Apply a small amount of water or rubbing alcohol to a soft towel. Don't soak the towel. Winn grips are porous and should not be soaked.

Step 2

Rub down the grip gently. Do not apply vigorous pressure or you might damage the grip.

Step 3

Allow the grips to air-dry.

Tips and Warnings

  • Winn grips have a porous top layer that can be ruined if you rub the grips too hard.
  • Never submerge your grips when cleaning them. Saturating grips may damage underlying elements and ruin the grip. Keep your grips as dry as possible during rainy rounds.
