Restaurants Near University of Dayton Arena

Home to the Flyers basketball team, the University of Dayton Arena draws hordes of fans annually. As with most sports arenas, the fare is a far cry from gourmet or healthful. Lucky for visitors, there are several restaurants within a short distance from the arena, so there are other options for grabbing a quick bite other than nachos and hot dogs. Diners can find almost any sort of cuisine nearby.

Mexican Cuisine

Los 3 Amigos is located two miles from the University of Dayton Arena. Los 3 features authentic and modernly adapted Mexican food, and meal prices range from $15 to $30, as of August 2010. The atmosphere is family-friendly, casual and non-smoking.

Carmel's Southwest Grill, located within five miles of the University of Dayton Arena, tempts diner's palates with award-winning margaritas. There are several healthy meal options, in addition to traditional Mexican dishes. Some include Tuscan BBQ chicken, firecracker shrimp and chicken wraps.

Fine Dining

Located less than five miles from the arena, the Oakwood Club, established in 1962, is one of Dayton's finest upscale dining locations. Menu highlights include hand cut steaks, succulent seafood flown in daily and freshly ground Costa Rican coffee. As of August 2010, meal prices at the Oakwood Club range from $8 and $9 for appetizers to around $35 for a 12 oz. filet mignon.

Italian Restaurants

Pacchia Prima is an upscale Dayton Italian restaurant that offers diners several options for enjoying a meal. While sitting in the front dining room, guests have a view of Dayton's historic and arts district. In the back of the restaurant, live jazz can be heard over the clinks of silverware. Pacchia Café also has a coffee bar, open seven days a week, that offers java and a variety of sandwiches. Pacchia Prima is located within five miles of the University of Dayton Arena.

The Spaghetti Warehouse, also located less than five miles from the arena, offers patrons a more casual, lively atmosphere. The first Spaghetti Warehouse opened in 1972, and the Dayton location, as well as others, is known for hosting large banquets and catering. For the diner who's looking to eat healthy, the website offers nutritional information on the menu items.

Fast Food

Not always thought of as the most figure-friendly or health-conscious dining options, fast food establishments are usually the turn-to for convenient eating. Around the University of Dayton Arena, however, there are a couple of fast food options for the smart diner.

Potbelly Sandwich Works, located less than five miles from the arena, allows diners to create made-to-order sandwiches in an upbeat environment. There is live music and for dessert, hand blended milkshakes.

Arena goers can also stop in at Panera Bread, located within five miles of the college, and grab freshly baked breads, soups and handmade salads. Nutritional information is provided on their website, and there is a Panera Kids menu for children.

Crowne Plaza Dining

The Crowne Plaza is located less than a mile from the University of Dayton Arena. Many sports fans may choose to lodge there, and they, as well as those not staying at the hotel, are welcome to dine at the Crowne Plaza's Stars restaurant and accompanying lounge.

The restaurant portion of Stars is located on the roof top--the only rooftop dining option in Dayton--and the cuisine is upscale American. Dinner items include such dishes as steak, pastas and seafood selections. They serve breakfast and lunch buffets, too.

There is also a lounge and bar component where patrons can enjoy after-dinner drinks. Oftentimes, the lounge will feature live music.
