Having dark circles under your eyes can be an embarrassing, nagging problem that can be very difficult to get rid of, even if you are getting enough rest and eating properly. However, there are some natural remedies that use therapeutic-grade essential oils to help get rid of dark circles under the eyes over a fairly short period of time, according to Jennie Harding, author of "The Essential Oils Handbook: All the Oils You Will Ever Need for Health, Vitality and Well-Being."
Step 1
Combine the pineapple essential oil, lemon essential oil, tomato leaf essential oil and olive oil in a small, dark- or amber-colored bottle that has a tight-fitting top.
Step 2
Shake the bottle vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds to combine the oils for use.
Step 3
Pour a small amount of oil mixture into a small, shallow bowl and soak a cotton ball in the bowl for one to two minutes or until most of the oil is absorbed.
Step 4
Dab the soaked cotton pad on to the dark circles under each eye with your eyes closed, making sure not to get the oil mixture into your eye.
Step 5
Leave the mixture on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes, while in a reclining position. Wrap a towel around your shoulders if you are worried about getting the oils on your skin or clothes.
Step 6
Wash your face with lukewarm water and a mild facial soap before applying a facial moisturizer, as the essential oils can be somewhat drying to the skin.
Step 7
Repeat this treatment once per day as needed, shaking the bottle to recombine the oils before each use. Discontinue using the oils if they cause any irritation to the skin or eyes.
Step 8
Store unused portions of this mixture in a cool, dark and dry place like a medicine cabinet or kitchen cupboard for no more than 60 days.
