Calories from food and beverages give children energy for activity and for growth. Your child may be especially active, or may be a picky eater. If for some reason you worry that your child does not get enough calories in their daily diet, you might consider an energy supplement. Energy supplements for kids are tasty and dense sources of calories.

Complete Shakes

Boost Kid Essentials Nutritionally Complete Drink is an energy supplement with 25 essential vitamins and minerals. This ready-to-drink shake comes in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors. In addition to the immune-supporting nutrients iron, selenium, and vitamins A, C, and E, these shakes come with a drinking straw that provides healthy probiotic bacteria. Each eight ounce serving of this energy supplement has 240 calories and seven grams of protein. In addition, they have essential nutrients for growth like taurine and carnitine. While these shakes have sugar, fructose, and artificial flavors to make them palatable, they are free from lactose and high fructose corn syrup.

Protein Shakes

Herbalife Kids Shakes are energy supplements that come in the three kid-friendly flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Herbalife claims that kids will enjoy these shakes so much that they will ask for one every day, and learn healthy nutrition habits for life. To make the shake, mix the powder in 2-percent reduced fat milk. Every 8-oz. unce serving has 200 calories, 15 grams of protein from soy, isolated whey, and milk, and 10 grams of added sugars. It is a good source of fiber and the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E. Herbs in these shakes include ginger for digestion, and the antioxidants rosehips and acercola. This shake mix has no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners; instead, it has sugar and fructose to sweeten it.

Energy Bars

Can Do Kid nutrition bars are all-natural, 68-percent organic energy supplements. The protein mainly comes from organic soy. Other ingredients are organic rice syrup and organic tapioca syrup, which add sweetness and calories to these energy supplements. These bars come in CAN-Illa vanilla, Chocolate CRUNCH, and Cookies and Cream flavors. A serving size is two bars, which come in a package together. The pair of bars has 170 calories, nine grams of protein, and thirteen grams of added sugars. They provide all of the vitamins except vitamin D, and they are good sources of calcium, iron and zinc. They are free from gluten, trans fat, and high fructose corn syrup.
