Keurig single-cup brewing systems enable users to enjoy the flavor and benefits of premium coffee, tea and hot cocoa at home without the hassle of traditional brewers. Models are also available for small businesses and the hospitality industry.

K-Cups

Keurig systems use the trademarked K-Cups packaging, which holds the products to be inserted into the brewer. The packaging is designed to block humidity, oxygen and light. Hundreds of products are available from companies such as Caribou Coffee, Ghirardelli, Newman's Own and Twinnings. Most are sold in multipacks.

Use

Make sure the water reservoir is full. Put a cup on the drip tray, then insert a K-Cup into the holder. Press the handle down, making sure the K-Cup is punctured. Select the brew size, then press the brew button. The brewer goes through the process without further assistance and produces a full cup of coffee.

Prices

As of 2010, prices range from $99.95 for the MINI Plus Personal Brewer to $249.95 for the larger Breville Home Brewing System. K-Cups vary in price based on package size, brand and type of product. An average price is $13.95 for a 24-pack.
