Online skateboard riding games are entertaining and may give you a nice break in the day by reducing stress as you "ride" your skateboard up hills and through challenging urban courses. They typically require only an Internet browser with the free Flash or Shockwave plug-ins. You typically control your skateboard using the keyboard or mouse.

Uphill Rush

In this game, you can choose among several vehicles, including a skateboard. You control the skateboard through a hilly course where jumps and ramps teach you to maintain your "balance" in midair. If you over-rotate, the game takes you to a certain death as you fall off the skateboard. The game simulates real skateboard midair tricks. When you press the space bar on the computer keyboard, the rider and skateboard perform a jump in which the skateboard flips along its lengthwise axis. The game provides signs along the way to warn you of an imminent jump that will safe your life.

Skateboard on the Streets

This Flash-based game places your virtual skateboard rider, either a girl or a boy, on a street full of standard obstacles, including trash cans, benches, construction work and more. Using your keyboard, you ride around these obstacles or jump over them. If you fail to avoid an obstacle, you experience a "wipe out" on your skateboard, flying forward and landing on the concrete. Each time you jump over an obstacle, you get points. The course runs for 60 seconds, during which time you should jump over as many objects as you can to achieve a high score.

The Best Etnies Skate Game

The Best Etnies Skate Game requires the free Shockwave plug-in. Most Web browsers will prompt you to install this plug-in when you attempt to load the game. The Shockwave plug-in provides greater interactivity and graphics. You ride a skateboard through a city street using your computer keyboard. You can jump high off ramps and catch objects in the air to score points. But if you run into a car or a wall, the game simulates a bloody crash. The fast first-person point of view adds realism to this game. When you finish, your score is tallied against worldwide players.

Maxim's Day Out

Maxim's Day Out is a simple game of a dog on a skateboard. You control the dog using your computer's keyboard. You can ride the skateboard left or right, then make the dog jump up off the skateboard to catch flying Frisbees. This game requires much less skill at maneuvering a virtual skateboard and is well-suited to beginners or young children.
