If you wake up every morning to battle frizzy hair, your hair needs moisture. According to Hair Boutique.com, frizz can attack any texture hair, from thick to thin and straight or curly. Relaxing the frizz means replacing vital oils that are missing and providing enough moisture to repair the damage. It is a balancing act to find the right amount of moisture for your hair. Too much oil will make it limp, and too little causes the frizz. It will take trial and error, but with a little effort, your hair will calm down and relax.
Step 1
Shampoo hair no more than twice a week; this allows natural hair oil to tame the frizz. Daily shampooing will strip hair of oil and lead to dryness. If you need to wet your hair every day, apply conditioner only on some days.
Step 2
Check the ingredients listed on your shampoo and conditioner bottles for sodium lauryl sulfate or alcohol. These compounds will further dry hair. Switch to products designed to add moisture and that don't contain these ingredients.
Step 3
Fill a spray bottle with one part conditioner and three parts bottled water. Use this as a leave-in conditioner. Spray hair lightly before styling.
Step 4
Mix 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar with an equal part of water. Pour this mixture over hair after shampooing and conditioning. Work the vinegar though hair with your fingers. Rinse out with cold water.
Step 5
Air-dry hair if possible, but if you must blow-dry, use the cool setting and a diffuser attachment. Diffusers hook on to the end of the dryer and help spread the air out over the surface of your hair.
Step 6
Apply a deep conditioner at least once a month. Use a product designed to add moisture to hair. Follow the instructions provided with the product. Most deep conditioners stay on hair for an hour or more and will help repair damaged strands. Hair Boutique.com does not recommend hot oil treatments for frizzy hair unless using an essential oil, such as sesame or jojoba oil.
