The Paleolithic Diet, or Paleo Diet for short, is based on the simple foods that Man ate during the Stone Age, before the development of agriculture and animal husbandry. These would be the foods that they hunted and gathered when hunger pangs struck, so the diet is based on meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, berries, roots, tree nuts and mushrooms. And like the ancient bush men, you eat when you're hungry, not because it's time to eat.
Breakfast
On the Paleo Diet, you eat what you feel like eating at that moment. Nothing is really inappropriate. Bacon and eggs fried in the bacon grease, with berries or fruit on the side seems to be a frequent breakfast choice, according to PaleoFood.com. Other breakfast ideas offered are raw walnuts and berries, salads, fresh fish such as salmon, and lots and lots of water.
Lunch
A "huge" salad, encompassing lots of greens and vegetables is a common choice, according to PaleoFood.com. Olive oil is one of the legal oils you can use on your salad, because it is pressed from a fruit, so the thinking is that it could have had a place in the Paleo man's diet. Also pemmican and jerky, which are naturally dried meats, are useful at lunchtime for a handy protein source.
Supper
For variety, eat some cooked veggies this time, preferably greens such as spinach and kale. Salad is still in the running though; on the Paleo Diet, salad is good any old time. Go heavy on meats. As for what kind, organ meats such as liver and bone marrow are the optimal choice for a Paleo dieter, but fish, rabbit or chicken are legal, too. Some Paleo Dieters graze, eating fruits, berries and nuts, jerky and pemmican whenever they feel hungry.
