Finding things for teenagers to do in San Francisco can seem a bit challenging at first. The city is known for its massive amount of restaurants, shops and tourist attractions--but that may not appeal to the average teen. However, there are many fun and out-of the-box attractions to see and do that will appeal even to a teen.
Unlikely Playground
Many visitors to San Francisco have not heard of the Seward Street Slides--one of the city's best kept secrets for the younger crowd. Kids, teens and even some spritely adults will love discovering these concrete slides located in the Castro Hills of San Francisco. Bring a piece of cardboard to protect your bottom as you slide at top-speed in this unlikely playground. Teens will especially get a kick out of this activity. Best of all, it's completely free.
Chills and Thrills
If you know a teen who loves to be scared out of their wits, or has quite the adventurous spirit, Playland Not-At-The-Beach is as kooky as its name and full of activities that will get their hearts pumping and their minds filled with imagination. From laughing clowns--jumping out at you as you meander through the halls and interactive displays, to a vintage Fascination game that is sure to cause sore muscles. Playland Not-At-The-Beach is located in El Cerrito and features some of San Francisco's most interesting exhibits and games for all levels of guests.
Segway Fun
Get off of the cablecars and enjoy touring San Francisco with a Segway tour. This will get your body moving and it's easier to learn than you may think. Electric Tours in San Francisco is known for its great customer service and easy teaching styles, so hop on and ride through the city in a whole new way.
Dancing in the City
Thanks to hit TV shows that have made dancing extremely popular with the young, teens will love the chance to learn and show off their stuff by taking a ballroom dancing class in the city. You can purchase a multi-use pass or drop in for a single class at many studios, including Second Glance Dance located in Glen Park. A great way to earn some new moves, have fun and get some exercise.
Sporty San Franciscans
If you are into sports, or have always wanted to try something new, the Sports Basement in San Francisco is the perfect place for both teens and adults. Besides selling great sports gear, they also sell tickets to a wide array of popular active adventures near the city, and offer free classes--right on the premises for yoga, bike riding and running.
