Calculating calories burned is an essential part of any weight loss regime. To lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume. Running burns a lot of calories per mile, but the specific amount varies greatly from person to person and is only approximate. Factors that affect the total are weight, distance and time, effort and metabolism. View the calculated number as an approximation to give you a general idea of the effectiveness of your exercising and how many calories you are burning.
Step 1
Weigh yourself and record the number to help calculate how many calories you are burning.
Step 2
Multiple 0.63 by your weight to find your net calories burned per mile. If you weigh 150 lbs., multiply 0.63 times 150 lbs., which equals approximately 94 calories per mile.
Step 3
Mutiple your calorie per mile total by the number of miles you ran. If you weigh 150 lbs. and ran 3 miles, you burned 282 calories.
