Skating Rinks in Phoenix, Arizona

With its scorching summertime heat, it's no wonder that Phoenix offers a wide variety of indoor skating rinks to allow residents and visitors the opportunity to get active indoors. Whether you enjoy ice skating, roller or in-line skating, or hockey, you can find a rink for it. And no matter your experience level, you'll be able to find skating lessons that are right for you. With events such as Family Fun Skate or night skating sessions, skating at Phoenix's rinks is a way to stay active.

Ice Skating

There are several ice skating rinks in the Phoenix area. The Oceanside Ice Arena has public skating sessions and adult skating sessions called the Coffee Club, while Polar Ice has three locations in the Phoenix area, which offer public sessions and rental skates that can even fit toddlers.

Roller Skating

The Phoenix area offers several rinks for roller skating and inline skating. The Rollero Family Skating Center has the only hardwood maple floors in the state and offers public sessions, lessons, and special events such as Late Night Skate. USA Skateland Mesa is a family-oriented skate rink with Family Fun Skate sessions open to the public and lessons for people of all ages.

Skating Lessons

No matter your age or experience, you can find a skating rink that offers suitable skating lessons in Phoenix. The Rollero Family Skating Center and USA Skateland Mesa offers rollerskating lessons. Polar Ice has a series of classes called Learn to Skate classes, which last for eight weeks. On Saturday mornings, Oceanside Ice Arena holds Oceanside Skating University classes, which are divided according to age and skating ability with new skaters welcome to attend.

Hockey

If you're interested in playing hockey at a Phoenix rink, you're in luck. The Castle Sports Club is exclusively geared toward roller hockey. There are no public sessions at Castle Sports Club; hockey enthusiasts can sign up for one of the club's many roller hockey leagues for both adults and kids. There is also a "Learn to Love Hockey" program, which is free of cost, for kids between the ages of 5 and 10. For ice hockey players, the Arcadia Ice Arena has open ice hockey sessions, camps and lessons.

Skating Clubs

Skating clubs can be a way for you to engage in competitions, get practice space and educational opportunities. Most skaters who have passed their first United States Figure Skating Association test to become highly ranked skaters belong to a skating club of one kind or another. The Skating Club of Phoenix Membership in the Skating Club of Phoenix grants United States Figure Skating Association membership, social activities and free time on the ice. The Skating Club of Phoenix as of 2010 was using Polar Ice at nearby Peoria as the club ice skating rink.
