Kaz vaporizers help keep the humidity in your child's room at the proper level. As your vaporizer works, scale from calcium and other minerals in the water form in the unit. Left unattended, this scale can build up to the point where it reduces the operating efficiency of the vaporizer. Bacteria can also grow within the vaporizer. Regularly removing the scale and disinfecting the unit will ensure your Kaz vaporizer is ready for use in your child's bedroom.
Step 1
Remove any unused water remaining in the vaporizer water container. Rinse the container with clean water. Dry the container with a clean cloth.
Step 2
Place the steam unit in a large bowl. Fill the bowl with 3 1/2 inches of undiluted white vinegar. Allow the steam unit to soak for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Place your finger over the hole in the bottom of the steam unit. Fill the unit with tap water through the steam outlet. Cover the steam outlet with another finger. Shake the unit, then remove your fingers to remove the water from the steam unit. Repeat this step until all signs of scale and vinegar odor are eliminated.
Step 4
Clean the stem outlet, safety vents near the night-light lens, and the water intake hole on the bottom of the unit with the tip of a toothpick.
Step 5
Mix 1 tsp. of household bleach with 1 gallon of water in a jug. Pour the solution into the vaporizer reservoir. Swirl the reservoir to wet all surfaces and let the reservoir sit for 20 minutes. Empty the reservoir and rinse it out until the odor of chlorine is gone.
Step 6
Replace the steam unit back in the reservoir.
