Ski season in New Hampshire begins around Thanksgiving and ends sometime in April, or in a good snow year, May. Several resorts are located in the white mountains, and atop Mt. Washington. There are ticket packages available for discount skiing at a number of member resorts through SkiNH. New Hampshire's state motto is "Live Free or Die" which becomes reinforced while exploring the backcountry in this New England state.

Loon Mountain

Loon Mountain has summer entertainment as well with a new zip line. Ski Loon because of the Loon Mountain Unconditional Guarantee. During your ski vacation if snow conditions are unfavorable, return your lift ticket by 11 a.n. and receive a voucher and ski another day of the season. Loon Mountain takes pride in its history of snow-making for quality ski trails.

Cannon

Cannon Mountain has the first aerial tramway and is located in Franconia Notch State Park. Tuckerbrook Family ski area is promoted as an excellent place to learn to ski. It has four lifts and 13 trails. The Franconia ski club members work with coaches and train athletes from age eight to 18.

Bretton Woods

Bretton Woods in New Hampshire is the largest ski resort with 434 acres of terrain, 101 trails as well as glade skiing. The historic Omni Mount Washington Resort and the White Mountain National Forest are some of New Hampshire's most cherished attractions. Mount Washington also offers night skiing at Bretton Woods.

The Balsams

The Balsams Grand Resort and Hotels in New Hampshire are known for their specialized hospitality. Skiing at the Balsams is complemented by first-class dining and resort activities. The ski area at the hotel boasts 16 trails of varying difficulty, five gladed areas and a Terrain Park. Views of Lake Glorietta make this ski area experience memorable.

Wildcat Mountain

Trail difficulty at Wildcat Mountain is ranked 5 percent beginner, 45 percent intermediate and 30 percent expert. Wildcat provides a nursery/childcare service to allow the serious ski parent additional time on the slopes to perfect their turns and bumps. This New Hampshire mountain is highly ranked among most ski areas in the Northeast for value and instruction.
