How to Get Rid of Age Spots Fast

The main cause of age spots is exposure to the sun for a long period of time. They usually happen to people over the age of 40, however, they can pop up in people that are younger who have been exposed to UV rays for an extended amount of time. Age spots appear when the amount of melanin increases. Melanin is the chemical in your skin that causes the pigment in your skin to become darker.

Age spots also appear when the amount of collagen and elastin decrease. Those chemicals are responsible for keeping your skin fresh and young looking. You can get rid of your age spots fast by using the right treatments and scrubbing your skin the correct way.

Step 1

Use a loofah to scrub your skin. A loofah is like a sponge that has fibers that can get rid of the top layer of your skin. The top layer contains dead skin that when removed, can get rid of your age spots. That's because the top layer of skin contains the most melanin, the chemical that causes your skin to darken.

By removing your dead skin, you can get rid of your age spots fast. When you are in the shower or bathtub, put soap on your loofah and vigorously rub around the area you have age spots on your skin. Repeat several times a week to continuously remove that dead skin.

Step 2

Use buttermilk to get rid of your age spots fast. Buttermilk contains a natural bleaching agent that can fade your age spots. Dip a cotton ball into a cup of buttermilk and smooth onto your age spots. Let the liquid evaporate.

Step 3

Use lemon juice to get rid of your age spots fast. Just like buttermilk, lemon juice has a natural bleach that can fade your age spots. Dip a cotton ball into a cup of lemon juice and apply to your age spots. Let the liquid evaporate on your skin.

Step 4

Stay out of the sun. When you expose your skin to UV rays of light, you increase your chances of contracting age spots. Sun exposure is the number one cause of age spots.

By staying out of the sun, you can drastically lessen the appearance of your age spots. If you have to be out in the sun, wear clothing that will cover up your age spots. Long sleeves and long pants, a hat and sunglasses can all protect your skin from age spots. Also, wear a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 at the lowest amount.
