Johansen Farms
The Chicago area has many different touristy farms to visit. The Johansen Farm is located in Bolingbrook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The farm is host to a children's zoo that has over 500 animals that love to be petted and fed. There is a corn maze for children to explore and the farm offers hay rides. Other exciting features of the farm are two-story air slides, a jumping castle and a train ride. During the month of October the farm offers free pony rides on Saturday and Sunday.
Lincoln Park Zoo
The Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the best free activities Chicago has to offer. This get-away is just a few minutes away from downtown Chicago. One of the park attractions is the North American exhibit. This exhibit has been planned as a walk through the woods where kids encounter lots of woodland creatures such as wolves, turtles and beavers. Another Lincoln Park Zoo attraction is the Regenstein Small Mammal-Reptile House which is home to approximately 200 small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and birds.
Chicago Lakefront
The Chicago lakefront area is 26 miles of beautiful beaches. This area is a location just waiting for kids. At the lakefront kids can run, swim, fly kites, play volleyball and participate in all kinds of water sports. Life guards are on duty during swimming season.
Logan Square Skatepark
The Logan Square Skatepark is a part of the Chicago Parks District. It is beneath the Kennedy Expressway on Logan Boulevard where it intersects with Western Avenue. This setting is protected from the weather by the overpass. Its features include a 4-foot quarter pipe, a hip quarter/bank and roll-over.
Adams Water Playground
The Adams Playground is in Lincoln Park, and when the weather warms up enough for playing in water, the park opens up its water playground. Near the water playground is a small field house that hosts many indoor park activities.
