Mizuno has been making baseball gloves for over 100 years. In 2010, it offered dozens of gloves designed specifically for fielders, catchers and first basemen.

Models

There are currently eight different lines of baseball gloves manufactured by Mizuno and each line features multiple models. From highest to lowest in quality the lines are the Mizuno Pro Limited series, the Classic Pro XX Series, the Classic Pro X Series, the Classic Pro series, the MVP Prime series, the MVP series, the World Win series and the Franchise series.

Features

Each series of glove is produced in a particular way, with more or less expensive materials, depending on the model. For example, the Mizuno Pro Limited features Japanese tanned Deguchi leather cut from the best sections of the hide. According to Mizuno, it features 4-D advanced technology, which allows for the independent movement of fingers for "controlled fielding." The Franchise series of gloves features "Power Lock technology for a simple, secure fit."

Cost

As of August 2010, the Mizuno Pro Limited is available for $319.99 on Mizuno's U.S. web site. Franchise gloves cost $69.99 on the official site.

Availability

In edition to Mizuno's official web site, Mizuno baseball gloves may be purchased through wholesale web sites (sometimes at bargain prices), such as Just Baseball Gloves and Baseball Rampage. Most models of the glove will also be available at local sporting goods store.

Considerations

Genuine leather baseball gloves are worth the investment if you plan on playing baseball for a number of years; they are generally more durable than other synthetic gloves and they are easier to break in. Be sure to check the size of the glove before you purchase it. Try it on to ensure a good fit it you are shopping at a retail store.
