According to Mayo Clinic.com, rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that appears in adulthood and commonly results in small, red, pus-filled bumps and acute redness. Rosacea often comes in cycles, making it hard to diagnose and treat. While there are no cures for rosacea, some natural herbal treatments can help reduce the severity of the condition. These remedies have not been approved by the FDA, however, so consult your doctor or dermatologist before beginning treatment.
Chamomile Essential Oil, Eucalyptus Essential Oil and Jojoba Oil
According to Marcel Lavabre, author of "Aromatherapy Workbook," a mixture of chamomile essential oil, eucalyptus essential oil and jojoba oil can be used to help treat and reduce the severity of rosacea. To make and use this mixture, combine 1/2 tsp. chamomile essential oil, 1/2 tsp. eucalyptus essential oil and 10 tsp. jojoba oil in a small container and shake to combine. Gently massage a small amount of the essential oil mixture onto the affected area for two to three minutes. Leave the oil mixture on the skin for 10 minutes before rinsing with cool, clean water and washing with a mild facial cleanser. Repeat this treatment once a day as long as no irritation occurs. Store unused portions of the mixture in a cool, dark place for no more than one month.
