Perception Tribute Kayak Review

Perception Kayaks designed the Tribute as an efficient boat for smaller paddlers. The efficiency allows for faster speeds. Its hull design and rocker provide a snappy feel that is easily controlled.

Specifications

The Perception Tribute measures 12 feet long and 24.5 inches wide. It is 13.5 inches deep. The 35-inch-long-by-19.5-inch wide cockpit coaming makes it easy for all size paddlers to get into and out of the boat. It will carry a maximum of 240 lbs. The kayak weighs 40 lbs.

Features

Features include bow and stern deck rigging for plenty of storage, a comfortable adjustable seat and thigh pads, Soft Touch handles that make carrying the kayak easy and adjustable foot braces. A bulkhead, accessible via a deck hatch, seals of the stern of the kayak for dry storage and flotation.

Materials

The Tribute comes in two materials. Standard rotomolded polyethylene is a durable material that can take a beating--it's what whitewater kayaks are made from. When built from Airalite, the stiffer hull provides better performance.

Price

As of 2010, Perception suggests $795 for the rotomolded polyethylene version. The Airalite version costs $1,295.
