When it comes to weight loss, there are no quick and easy ways to lose weight for good. True weight loss involves lifestyle changes that involve switching up your diet and routine and adopting habits that are healthier for you. Diet and exercise are the two most important components of any successful weight loss program. Explore some of the best options for weight loss and consider those that would be the easiest for you to incorporate into your everyday life.

Drink Lots of Water

When you think about dieting, chances are that you think about changing the things that you eat and not necessarily the things that you drink. Reader's Digest reports that the average American ingests nearly 250 calories a day extra in just soft drinks alone, which can equate to over 90,000 unwanted calories or 25 extra pounds in a single year. Avoid sugary fruit juice and soda and drink lots of water to stay hydrated and discourage the retention of water that can lead to bloating and weight gain.

Walk It Off

According to Reader's Digest online, a Duke University study has found that 30 minutes of walking can keep weight off, but 45 minutes or more can go a bit beyond that and lead to calorie burning and weight loss. Walk about three miles as briskly as possible to maximize your weight loss endeavors. Combine that with healthy eating and watch the pounds roll off.

Cut Calories

The more calories you ingest and allow to remain in your body the more weight you will gain. Eat less and make better choices about what you do eat to cut down the number of calories you take in every day. Net Doctor recommends cutting between 300 and 500 calories per day to lose a pound or two a week. Eating fewer calories and increasing your physical activity can increase your results, but be sure to maintain enough calories to give your body enough energy to perform the exercise you need to burn that extra fat.
