Being a prime vacation spot, Orlando, Florida, is home to many different types of recreational activities, including an array of miniature golf courses. Mini golf courses in the area include everything from themed to indoor courses and those at the theme parks and other popular tourist spots. Courses are conveniently located throughout the area near hotels and attractions making it easy for tourists to enjoy an afternoon or evening playing a friendly round of mini golf.

Theme Park

Vacationers planning on visiting the Walt Disney World resorts can enjoy a mini golfing adventure at one of its two courses. Both Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens offer two 18-hole courses for guests. Winter Summerland, at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, offers guests a choice of golfing through a course themed after summer or winter, both featuring Santa and other North Pole residents. Both of the courses at Fantasia Gardens will take guests on a wacky adventure themed after the classic animated film "Fantasia."

Themed Courses

Each miniature golf course in Orlando has its own unique design and theme, creating a different adventure with each round of play. Some of the area's mini golf themes include pirates at Pirate's Cove, tropical at Congo River and Tiki Island or dinosaurs at Hawaiian Rumble. Guests golfing at Pirate's Cove will swashbuckle their way through wrecked pirate ships on their way to finding the buried treasure, while at Hawaiian Rumble guests will golf through caves filled with dinosaurs. Golfers at Congo River, with two Orlando locations, can stop to feed live alligators or pan for gems.

International Drive

The International Drive, or I-Drive, area of Orlando is where most of the non-theme park action is located. I-Drive is home to more than 15 miniature golf courses, including Pirate's Cove, Congo River, Hawaiian Rumble, the Putting Edge and Tiki Island Adventure Golf. These golf courses are scattered up and down I-Drive, giving vacationers a chance to stop in for a round while shopping, dining or enjoying the many other activities offered along the drive.

Putting Greens

There is more to miniature golfing than the wackiness of the theme and adventure courses. One of the courses at Disney's Fantasia Gardens offers serious golfers 18 holes of putting-green fun. Rather than the crazy obstacles, mini golfers will battle uneven greens, water obstacles and stand traps. Golfers in this area of Fantasia Gardens will putt through courses named after the different movie scenes and have a great view of the Hollywood Hotel Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios park.

Indoor Courses

Just because an afternoon rain shower has rolled in, does not mean plans to go miniature golfing have to change. Vacationers can enjoy indoor golfing through courses in the dark that are highlighted with glow in the dark balls and obstacles. The Putting Edge offers an indoor course complete with black lights and other glow in the dark fun.
