People use their facial muscles to express emotions by clenching, grimacing, furrowing and frowning. However, as you age these types of movements can cause wrinkles and fine lines like crow's feet, marionette lines and permanent frown lines. Facial exercises are one method of making wrinkles and fine lines less noticeable on the face. Perform exercises to work out wrinkles around the mouth and nose, eyes, and forehead. All exercise should be repeat 10 or more times in front of a mirror on a regular basis.

Fine Lines Around the Nose and Mouth

People begin to develop marionette lines, those downward lines that begin at nose and move down either side of the lip to the chin. To help lessen this noticeable wrinkle, begin by pressing your fingertips directly on the marionette lines on either side of the face. Next, smile as wide as possible and hold this for several seconds. Finally, while pressing into the skin, lift the skin into a smiling position. Repeat these consecutive actions several times.

To address lines that form around the mouth, begin with the eyes and eye muscles completely relaxed. While maintaining this relaxed, neutral position, smile by spreading the mouth wide and then lift the corners of the mouth upwards. Repeat several times.

Fine Lines Around the Eyes

The most common type of wrinkles people develop are crow's feet, those fine lines around our eyes. Try these exercises to help reduce fine lines around the eyes. First, close the eyes tightly and twist your wrist so that your thumbs are on the corners of your eyes while your other fingers rest on the top of your head. Press your thumbs into the corners of the eyes and move them all the way to your temples. Relax and repeat.

For another exercise, press two fingers into the temples by your eyes. Slightly pull back your temples to place pressure on the muscles around the eye and prevent them from wrinkling during the exercise. Next, squeeze your eyes shut and hold for several seconds. You will feel tension around your fingers if doing this correctly. Repeat several times.

Fine Lines Around the Forehead

Fine lines and frown marks can permanently form around the forehead when we continually hold facial expressions without realization of doing this. Try these exercises to totally relax the face and address lines on the forehead. First, close your eyes and completely relax the face, releasing any clenching, furrowing or tension. Concentrate only on soothing the muscles and wrinkles and breath slowly. Your mouth will slightly open if your face is in complete relaxation. Hold for several minutes.

For your next exercise, lie on your back while in your bed. Place your head so that it is dangling over the edge of the bed. Raise your eyebrows as high as possible while widely opening your eyes. Relax and repeat.
